Extensive video with radio traffic from homer218 of a two-alarm fire yesterday at 985 Garrison Avenue in Teaneck, New Jersey. The fire was originally reported in the basement and extended to the attic. Evacuation order given around 11:15 in the video.
Firefighters responded to the house at about 1:15 p.m. and were greeted by heavy fire and smoke, Joe Berchtold, a battalion chief with the Teaneck Fire Department, said.
Berchtold said the fire had “a good head start” by the time firefighters arrived.
Berchtold did not reveal whether anyone was injured in the fire.
Authorities said there were no reports of serious injuries. The blaze sent thick smoke into the area and triggered electrical pops from an outlet, but was quickly contained by Teaneck crews.
Garrison Avenue was closed in the area while crews continued to work at the scene around 4 p.m. The fire was reported around 1 p.m.
